Consuming Fire
"Be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord your God that He made with you; do not make for yourselves an idol in the form of anything the Lord your God has forbidden. For the Lord your God is a consuming fire, a jealous God." Deuteronomy 4:23-24 Our God is a jealous God. He wants you to Himself and does not want to share your mind, body, heart, or soul with anything or anyone. So why do we let the things of this world consume us instead of Him? Why do we let the negative or positive things take residence in our minds and hearts instead of God? It is easier said than done to not let the world consume us, to not let it take over our days and our thoughts When we let it, we loose touch with the One we should always be in touch with. We loose the rest we can find in Him and we loose the comfort we have in who He is to us. Why do we let this happen? Well, we are fallen humans that live in a fallen world, with objects that tend to look and feel for appeasing than God does...
