Who Am I To Judge

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged.   For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.  “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye [ c ]  when you have a log in your own? H ow can you think of saying to your friend, 'Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye?  Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye." Matthew 7:1-5 To be honest, I debated using the Message version of Matthew 7. I settled on the New Living Translation version, but my goodness the Message version just convicts you. The Message version of Matthew 7:1-5 reads:  " Don’t pick on people, jump on their failures, criticize their faults— unless, of course, you want the same treatment. That critical spirit has a way of boomeranging. It’s easy to see a smudge on yo...

Am I Failing God?

"We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ. It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualifications comes from God."  2 Corinthians 3:4-5 Am I failing God?  Now that is a question for thought. Is that even something that is possible? Some of those decisions make us feel as though we chose the wrong fork in the road and we are traveling down the path more frequently traveled instead of the one less traveled. Are we always confident in our decisions? No, but at times we lose confidence in the plans God has for us as well.  When things are not going the way we thought or hope they would we stand in the mess of confusion, pain, anxiousness, and feeling unsettled with where you are in your life. What makes tha...

Uneasy and Unsure, But...

"Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to hm." James 1:5 Uneasy and unsure. Those words go together like peanut butter and jelly for most people. When you're uneasy about something, you become unsure about everything else. Things that seemed to make sense or make you happy are now being called into question. The way you see your life, the world, changes. I can tell you that when this feeling happens to me, it literally takes over my body. During that time I am always on the verge of a breakdown, and I mean literal tears. I have to step back and take a deep breath to keep the tears from flowing down my cheeks, but trust me, my eyes are full. It's an unexpressable feeling of anxiety. I have never been able to put the anxiousness I have felt in the pit of my stomach into words. It's like I want to jump out of my skin. Like I should be doing something else with my life. Like I am ...
